Honda CR-V Named Crossover of the Year 2015 at Fleet Awards

22 April 2015

The Honda CR-V has been named the Crossover of the Year 2015 at the Motorcheck.ie Fleet Car Awards. Honda’s popular SUV model beat tough competition in the booming Crossover category including the Nissan Qashqai, Toyota RAV-4 and Hyundai iX35.

The Fleet Car Awards judging panel put each of the shortlisted cars through their paces at a two-day review event earlier this year. The judges marked the vehicles on a range of criteria, with the Honda CR-V scoring particularly strongly in the areas of performance, comfort, spaciousness, efficiency and aftersales service. The new 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engine in the CR-V came in for particular praise with the quietness, refinement, running costs and economy proving popular. Inside, the class-leading boot space and bright spacious interior also came in for specific mentions from the panel.

Cathal Doyle, Deputy Editor at Fleet Car commented, ‘Honda’s CR-V has long been a likeable crossover SUV, but the arrival of the impressive new 1.6 litre diesel engine has shot the CR-V to the top of the class. Excellent CO2 emissions and fuel consumption figures mean fleet buyers looking for a car in the crossover segment cannot afford to ignore the CR-V.'

John Saunders, Sales Director at Universal Honda Ltd., was delighted to collect the trophy on behalf of Honda at the award ceremony held in Clontarf Castle, Dublin. He commented, “Honda are very proud to win the Crossover of the Year Award as it underlines the industry’s trust in the quality, reliability and desirability of our cars. The Honda CR-V is the perfect blend of style, driving dynamics and efficiency, all in a spacious and practical SUV which is proving so popular with Irish buyers. With a range of upgrades and improvements introduced recently, the CR-V is now even better value for fleet and private buyers alike.”

The Honda CR-V is no stranger to success in recent times, with a number of important accolades from leading organisations. The CR-V is currently rated as the ‘Most Reliable SUV’ by influential consumer publication Which, and was also named by What Car as the ‘Most Fuel-Efficient Large SUV’ in their True MPG tests.

The Honda CR-V retails from €31,995, or €349 per month on PCP finance, and offers a high level of specification with 17” Alloy wheels, Bluetooth, City-brake active system, Cruise Control and Dual-zone Climate Control . With CO2 emissions from just 115g/km (annual road tax from €200) and combined fuel consumption from 4.4l/100km (64mpg), it is also one of the most efficient SUV’s on the market.
